Vision Correction Glasses Use Status in Korea(2013~2019)

Abstract
Purpose : The people use vision correction devices is different according to individual characteristics. It presents basic data on various usage status by characteristics and look for indirect social perceptions of opticians and use them to establish directions.

Methods : As a research method, about 1,500 adults men and women over 19 years of age were surveyed using a structured web questionnaire using CATI using wired and wireless RDD.

Results : The annual replacement cycle of adults was more than 2 years, 46.0% in 2015, 50.7% in 2019. The annual replacement cycle of youth was 6~12 months, with 44.8% in 2015, 46.5% in 2019. The type of contact lenses used by adults by year was the highest in 'continuous-lenses' in 2015(52.8%), 2019(48.9%). The types of contact lenses used by youths by year were the same for both 'continuous-lenses' and 'oneday-lenses' in 2015(42.3%) and 2019(46.7%). The annual optometry place by adults was high in optical shops every year and considering factors, lenses were important when purchasing every year. Considerations for choosing an optical shop were a reasonable price(53.4%) and an accurate visual acuity test(47.7%).

Conclusion : In the situation where the replacement cycle of an adult becomes longer and complains about professional knowledge, it is necessary to recognize the role of an eye exam specialist and settle down gradually to people.
